    With so much choice in styles and leathers alone, it's natural to have questions regarding buying a sofa.

    This section contains answers to some of the more popular questions we get asked – but should you not find the answer you’re looking for, please feel free to contact our experts on 01204 368 413 or fill out our handy online form and we'll be happy to offer our advice.

    What are your Chesterfield frames made from?

    Our frames are made from solid beech hardwood. Cheaper pieces of furniture, however, often use frames that are far lighter and less substantial in their construction. This is evident when the weight of each sofa is compared.

    Is the leather you use of the highest quality?

    All our furniture is cut by hand from full hides and we only used the best quality European hides. On the other hand, manufacturers offering a cheap Chesterfield only offer a very small choice in relation to leather colour and finish. This, combined with the quality of leather used, allows them to generate a cost saving in this area.

    Do you strip stud or hand stud your furniture?

    All our furniture is individually hand studded, whereas cheaper furniture is usually finished with strip studs, where only the fourth or fifth stud is hammered into the frame and the linking studs just float on the surface.

    Why should I choose Sofas by Saxon over a cheaper manufacturer?

    We prefer to deal directly with our customers rather than involving middlemen. Indeed, we decline to purchase second-rate furniture from Eastern Europe or the Far East and pass it off as our own. In fact, we ONLY create our own furniture from our workshop in Lancashire.

    This means we know the fine points of the industry, offering you specialist advice you can count on. There are also no hidden charges, and we have complete control of the whole process – from your initial enquiry, the manufacture of your furniture and its journey to your home

    Is there a Sofas By Saxon Showroom?

    Yes. We have a large selection of our Sofas and Chairs in our showroom in Bolton, Lancashire (directions here).  It goes without saying that it would be impossible to house each and every style in every type of leather so we advise you to give us a quick call on 01204 368 413 to check which styles we have available before setting off.

     

    How Do I Clean My Sofa?

    We would recommend cleaning your furniture once a month using our Leather Cleaning and protection kit.  An old fashioned shaving brush is ideal to get in the deep buttoning but ensure it is soft bristled.  Do not use any other chemicals or cleaning products as we test all our leathers to ensure they are compatible.

    To clean your Sofa, follow the following instructions closely:

    Soft Cleaner

    Fill the measuring cap with the Soft Cleaner and pour onto one of the cloths provided ensuring even distribution.

    Wipe the cloth across the area to be cleaned applying even pressure

    Let your leather dry for approx 30 minute before resuming use

    Repeat procedure if necessary

    Dispose of cloth

    To protect your Sofa, follow the following instructions closely:

    Protection Cream

    Fill the measuring cap with Protection Cream and pour onto one of the cloths provided ensuring even distribution

    Wipe the cloth across the area to be protected applying even pressure and distribution

    Let your leather dry for approx 30 minutes before resuming use

    Dispose of cloth

    Use protection cream after every 2nd to 3rd clean.

     

    Can my Sofa be made in Fabric?

    The short and sweet answer is Yes, all our styles are available in leather or fabric.

    Please note, if you have your own fabric or material you want to use for the sofa or chair, that should not be a problem either. We have years of experience with Customer Own Material (COMs) requests so give us a call and we'll see what we can achieve together.

     

  • Bespoke

    Can Sofas by Saxon amend designs to suit a customer's particular requirements?

    Yes we can. We often receive requests to fine tune our designs to meet a client's needs or requirements.  We just need the full details of the changes you would like to see and we can advise from there. Depending on what changes you settle upon will determine whether there is a cost or not. Of course, we'll notify you of any additional costs before we make the piece for you.

    Can I use my own leather or fabric?

    Yes, you can. We are very happy to work with customer's own choice of leathers or fabrics, however, please give us a call on 01204 368413 first before you go ahead and purchase something specific so we can check measurements and advise on suitability of different leathers/fabrics patterns and sofa styles

    How Do I Place an Order?

    There are 3 easy ways to buy a Sofa from us. You can explore the website, looking at different styles and leathers/fabrics, and then place an order online, or; if you prefer to speak to a real person you can give us a call and place your order over the phone - 01204 368413

    If you’d like to come and visit us, you can pop into our showroom in Lancashire (directions here). Of course, we'll be delighted to meet you plus you'll have the opportunity to try out he various styles and see our workshop first hand.

  • Payment

    Do I need to pay a deposit?

    Yes, we ask for a deposit of 10% of the total order value.

     

    What payment methods do you accept?

    As well as good old fashioned cash, we also accept VISA, MasterCard, Switch and Delta cards, although we are sorry to say that we do not currently accept American Express.

     

    Can I Pay On Delivery?

    Yes you can, and there are a number of ways in which you can pay for your lovely new furniture.

    Because we only require a 10% deposit for all orders placed online (with the exception of orders for leather/fabric cleaning kits only), you will need to pay the balance of your account when we deliver your furniture. This can be made either by a Building Society Draft or Bankers Draft, which should be made payable to "Saxon Furniture Limited".

    If you'd like to pay the balance of your account by personal cheque, we must have received this at least seven days before the due delivery date of your furniture, in order to allow time for the payment to clear. Please make your personal cheque payable to "Saxon Furniture Limited".

    For balance payments made by debit/credit card, this will be debited 5 days prior to the delivery of your furniture.

  • Cancellations

    What happens if I need to cancel my order before it is delivered?


    Don't worry, things happen and if you need to cancel your order prior to delivery, we are happy to refund any monies paid in full*.

    *Please note, if a bespoke order is cancelled prior to delivery, then we do reserve the right to withhold some or all of monies already paid to cover any costs incurred up to that point.

    How Long Will it Take to get My Furniture?

    Although our craftsman, have nimble fingers, it takes time to create sofas to the Sofas by Saxon standard. As our delivery lead time can vary at certain times throughout the year, for our up-to-date lead time please contact us on 01204 368413 or via email sales@sofasbysaxon.com. If you've got a specific time frame in mind, such as working around the decorators or desperately needing it for a family gathering, then give us a call on 01204 368413 and we’ll do our very best to deliver your new furniture, when you need it.

    Is There a Delivery Charge?

    We have a standard delivery charge of just £35 for all UK Mainland orders under £400 and just £69 for all UK Mainland orders over £400

    I'm unsure the sofa will fit into my room/home. How can I make sure?

    It's ok, we often get asked this question. Fortunately, we offer a view access service which means we can send our delivery team out to your home to assess the options before you have made a commitment to buy.

    In some cases we can make alterations to standard furniture to aid us gaining access so it's always best to check if you have reservations before deciding it's impossible. We do charge for this service (£35 if local, £69 for all other areas) to cover our time and fuel but if you decide to buy, we will knock this off the total value of the sale which we feel is a fair deal.

  • Delivery (Worldwide)

    Over the years we've established excellent transport links and wherever the location or whatever the size of your consignment, we're able to offer you a competitive shipping quotation through one of our experienced and reliable shipping partners. Our aim is to ensure you are soon sitting comfortably and that your delivery is quick and hassle free.

    How do I obtain a shipping quotation?

    Requesting a quotation is quick and easy, please get in touch via the shipping quote request form or should you wish to speak to someone directly, please contact our Multilingual Export Manager Janette on 01204 369120 or email janette@saxonfurniture.co.uk

    What happens next?

    Once we've received your request, we'll obtain a shipping quotation on your behalf, and then email the details to you.

    Alternatively, if you have your own preferred shipping company and you'd like to make your own arrangements, we're happy to allow your agent to collect the furniture from our workshop, on your behalf.

    Placing the order

    Once you've received your shipping quotation, buying from Sofas by Saxon couldn't be easier!  Drop us an email at sales@sofasbysaxon.com, give us a call on 01204 368413 or send us a fax at 01204 387554 to confirm the order. That’s it; we’ll take care of everything else.

    Your furniture order will be processed and you'll receive confirmation within 7 – 10 working days, giving you the details of the "week commencing collection date" for your order

    Payment

    Our payment terms are 10% on confirmation of your order with the balance of payment required at least 5 working days prior to shipment.

    We require all export payments to be made via a bank transfer, and at the point of order we will supply you with the relevant bank account details to allow you to transfer the funds.

    Delivery

    For most European deliveries, the actual delivery date normally takes place the week after it's been collected from our workshop, although this will vary depending upon location.  International deliveries will take a little longer, but you'll be advised of timescales.

    Once the consignment has arrived in its final Country of destination, you'll be contacted by a local delivery agent, who will arrange the date of delivery with you directly.

    There are 2 main delivery options: Kerbside Delivery and Port Only

    Kerbside Delivery:

    The majority of deliveries are kerbside deliveries.  This simply means your furniture will be brought to your kerbside, outside your premises by a single driver and vehicle.  You MUST ensure that at least 2 people are present to unload the vehicle and carry the furniture into your premises.  If you should require assistance with the delivery, we can make a special request to the shipping company for driver assistance, but please note that this will incur an additional charge.

    Port Only:

    For a small number of destinations, our shipping partners are sometimes unable to offer a kerbside delivery. Should this be the case, we will offer the option of delivery only to a specified port. You'd then be required to arrange for the collection of your furniture from the port and for this to then be delivered to your premises.

    For all export orders, our dedicated in-house Transport department are available to offer any further assistance you may require

    Packaging & peace of mind protection

    We want your furniture to arrive in the same pristine, tip top condition as it was before it left our hands and our workshop.  We therefore carefully bubble wrap all items, which are then safely boxed, using high quality export grade cardboard packaging keeping it safely protected for the journey ahead.

    Insurance

    At Sofas by Saxon we really take the time, care and attention to ensure we package correctly and use only trusted and reliable shipping companies to export your furniture.  We're therefore happy to say we very rarely experience any incidents of damage to any of our consignments.

    However in the most unlikely event, of any damage occurring throughout the export journey, all of our furniture is covered by Marine Insurance, which provides cover against accidental damage during transit.

  • Guarantees

    What guarantees do you offer?

    We want you to be entirely happy with the furniture you order from Sofas by Saxon. But if things aren't quite right and it’s really not working out for you, then don’t worry, our "28 day money back guarantee” means we’re happy to take things back, and we’ll come and collect the furniture and refund your money*.

    Our superb "25 Year Guarantee of Quality” means that all of the furniture frames supplied by Sofas by Saxon (allowing for fair wear and tear) are guaranteed against faulty manufacture for a period of 25 Years from the date of receipt. All other parts and materials are guaranteed for a period of Two years.

    *In the case of a refund, we will arrange to collect the goods and refund the total amount of monies paid, less the delivery charge and less a collection charge which will be equal to that of the original delivery charge. Please see the example below:

    Customer X orders: 1x Knightsbridge Chesterfield in Harley White with Mahogany bun feet and standard studs @ £829

    Delivery Charge @ £65 (non-refundable)

    Total Order Value = £894

    Customer X returns sofa for valid reason.

    Customer X is refunded the following: Sofa Value - £65 collection charge.

    In the above case £829 - £65 = £764 Customer X will receive £764 for their returned order.

    Do you offer any additional protection?

    Yes we do. We offer the opportunity to purchase a Protect & Care Policy which offers 5 years accidental damage cover for your sofa and includes a Leather Sofa Care Cleaning Kit worth £27.

    What is the Protect and Care Policy and how does it work?

     In the event that you are unable to prevent a spill from becoming a stain, then simply call the Freephone claims line (you will find the number in your policy pack) and we will arrange for a cleaner to come and see you and try to remove the stain.

    Even the most careful of people have little accidents, and if you (or your pet!) should rip, tear or burn your sofa then again all you need to do is give us call and we'll send out a technician to put things right.

     What happens if the stain cannot be removed or a repair is not possible?

    Please don't worry, if repair or stain removal is not possible then under the terms of your policy, we'll offer a replacement item at no extra cost to you.

    Why purchase the Leather Cleaning Kit?

    Our Leather Cleaning and Protection Kit has been specially formulated to give your Sofa or Chair the best chance of remaining in the same condition as when it first arrives at your home. We highly recommend this product  as we use them regularly to clean our showroom examples

    What happens if I don't like the sofa?

    First of all keep calm, and don't panic. If it's clashing with the curtains, and really not working out for you then we're happy to take it back. Give us a call within 28 days of receipt, and we'll collect it and refund your money in full*.

    *In the case of a refund, we will arrange to collect the goods and refund the total amount of monies paid, less the delivery charge and less a collection charge which will be equal to that of the original delivery charge. Please see the example below:
