Have you ever wondered what goes into making the perfect sofa? Would you like an exclusive insight into how we manufacture our handcrafted sofas and chairs?
If so, we’d like to invite you to see for yourself how our furniture is made. As part of our exclusive workshop tour, you’ll see our skilled upholsterers, seamstresses and cutters hand-making the sofas we’re famous for, using traditional techniques and the highest quality materials.
Our free 30 minute tours are held Monday to Thursday 10am to 4:30pm. They offer a unique opportunity to understand exactly how your own sofa would be made, Needless to say, our tours are popular and places are limited – please book by calling our showroom on 01204 368413 or via email
If you can’t make the trip our workshop video is the next best thing. We hope you enjoy it.
At Sofas by Saxon, we are a proud and dedicated team, none more so than our skilled craftsmen and women that work their magic within our workshop. It is fair to say they are the true artisans of the company and Sofas by Saxon would simply not be the same without them. All the words in the world wouldn't do their skills justice so we highly recommend that you come down to our showroom and see them in action yourself. We have a purpose built viewing gallery so you can see how we construct your furniture and is probably one of the only places you can do this.
Why not have a quick look at some of the members of our team......
The cutting team is headed up by Eddie, a man that likes to get straight to the point - of his sharp and trusty scissors.
Every single hide or selection of fabric is checked for imperfections, before the team prepare the patterns, measure, mark-up and individually hand cut each piece.
With Head seamstress Janet at the helm, these are the ladies that bring it all together and hold everything in. From thread to needle to leather or fabric, sewing is a physical skill as well as an art-form that demands care and patience. With over 60 years of collective experience; their sharp beady eyes constantly check for detail to ensure the hallmark of beautiful, skilled needlework sits proudly on all our furniture.
Andy and Paul are upholstery masters. Mainly responsible for that classic deep buttoned look clearly associated with the Chesterfield style, these men know how to get the tension just right, the buttons deep enough, and the comfort factor spot on. Years and years of experience; yes, nigh on 30 years each, means these guys have practically grown up right here in the workshop!
Whether it's hand antiquing, testing comfort or hand-tacking stud lines, these are the boys that finally make sure everything is exactly as it should be. Nothing gets past these experts until your Sofa is perfect in every way.
Only when they're satisfied that everything is as it should be, will it leave their hands and our workshop, to journey to your home.
