International Delivery FAQ

At Sofas by Saxon, we think everyone, wherever they are in the world, should be able to enjoy our beautiful furniture. We want you to be completely confident with your delivery. We’ll be happy to answer all of your questions, and this worldwide delivery FAQ is a great place to start. But if you’re still wondering about anything at all, don’t hesitate to contact us.

Where do Sofas by Saxon deliver to?

Whether you live in a high-rise in Hong Kong, a brownstone in New York or a château in France, our international sofa delivery service will ensure you receive your furniture quickly, easily and in perfect condition.

We pride ourselves in our ability to arrange shipment of your new sofa to any location in the world. Our specialist export team welcomes enquiries, and are able to provide free delivery quotes, with no obligation. We also deliver to the UK through our own experienced transport team.

Can I feel confident about shipping?

We’ve been sending our furniture all over the world for over 30 years. Our own export logistics team is very experienced, and we know most of the quirks of each country’s regulations. We’ve also chosen to work with first-class shipping partners — together, we’ll ensure that your furniture arrives on time and in perfect condition.

Can I see your sofas before I buy?

If you’re able to visit, we’d be delighted to welcome you to our showroom, which is open seven days a week and is located less than 20 miles (30km) from Manchester Airport. If you’re planning a visit, do let us know — especially if we can help you finalise your plans (for example, by suggesting nearby accommodation).

If you can’t visit our showroom, you’ll have no difficulty choosing and ordering our beautiful furniture online. Our workshop video shows you just how carefully and lovingly each piece of Chesterfield furniture is made, and you can see the individual ranges on our website. Will my sofa really be made to order?

Yes, every item is individually made to order, according to your preferences. A sofa usually takes 6–8 weeks to build, but if you have a particular deadline in mind, please let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

We can make bespoke furniture to your own sizes and specifications, which costs less than you may think. Read more about how we can customise your sofa.

We also have a range of in-stock furniture which have already been assembled and are ready to ship immediately.

Will the sofa fit into my home?

All furniture dimensions are on our product pages. To give you a sense of our sofas in three dimensions, we’ve also made helpful short videos of each range which are available on each product page.

We also have a furniture delivery guide that provides all the information you need to prepare for the delivery of your brand-new sofa.

However, if you have any concerns at all, please do get in touch. We’ll be happy to discuss the dimensions of your room and furniture with you, and can even offer some tips for getting your furniture around corners and through doors and stairways.

What are my delivery options?

The vast majority of our shipments will deliver the sofa straight to your front door — once it arrives, you’ll need an extra pair of hands to help you take it inside, so do remember to arrange that in advance. Alternatively, if you’d like us to quote you for a two-man delivery crew to take the furniture into your property, we’d be happy to do so.

How will my furniture be protected?

We know exactly how to package our furniture so that it arrives in perfect condition. First, we’ll carefully pack it in cushiony bubble wrap, and then we’ll place each item into its own super-strong cardboard box. If you’re outside of the EU, we’ll also pack it into heavy-duty crates.

How will I know where my furniture is?

We’ll send you an email as soon as your furniture has been collected from our workshop, and your shipping agent will let you know when it arrives in your country. We will also supply their contact details, so you can ask for progress updates at any time.

When will my furniture arrive?

The following tells you approximately how long it will take for your Chesterfield furniture to reach you once we’ve put the last loving touches to it in our workshop. These are based on our most popular destinations, but we regularly ship to almost everywhere, so please ask if you’re not on the list below:

Ireland, Hebrides, Isle of Man, Isle of Wight and Channel Islands — 5 working days

Southern and Western Europe — 5–7 working days

Eastern Europe and Scandinavia — 7–10 working days

Australia, Canada and North America — 3–5 working days by air, 15–20 working days by sea

Middle East and Far East — 7 working days by air, 25–30 working days by sea

What happens when it arrives in my country?

Our shipping partner will contact you directly to arrange a suitable date and time for delivery, which will give you plenty of time to organise that extra pair of hands, should you need them.

Wouldn’t it be easier to buy furniture from somewhere nearer me?

You can’t buy our furniture from anywhere else. If you like our genuine British furniture, our outstanding craftsmen’s quality, and our superb prices, there’s no better place to go. How do I get a quote for international delivery?

Even if you haven’t yet decided on exactly which furniture you want, feel free to get in touch as soon as you like. We’ll be able to answer all your questions about our fabulous furniture, as well as how to ship it to you.

What will my delivery quote include?

Your personalised quote will include details of your furniture, plus your shipping, packaging and insurance (we’ll charge you exactly what we pay for these, with no mark-up).

What about the language barrier?

We deal with people all over the world every day, and have never found language to be a problem. Members of our export team speak French, Spanish and Dutch, and we always manage when it comes to other languages too. Please don’t be nervous about emailing us, even if English isn’t your first language. Alternatively, email us in your own language and we’ll find a way!

How and when do I pay for delivery?

Once you’ve accepted your quote and you’re ready to place your order, just let us know. We’ll send you an order confirmation by email within 24 hours. Within one week of placing your order, you’ll need to pay a 10% deposit (our preferred payment method is by bank transfer). The remainder must clear into our bank account at least 10 days before your Chesterfield furniture leaves us and begins its journey to you.

Can I arrange my own delivery?

If you prefer to make your own arrangements to have your Chesterfield furniture collected from the port or even from our workshop, we’ll be very happy to accommodate you. We will also supply any documents you may need.
